Desember 2024 I visited Borneo or South Kalimantan with my friends from Singapore, this is my first experience exploring Borneo. Although the visit to Borneo this time was short but this experience made me very happy. Our first visit in Borneo was at the floating market of Lok Baintan. Then we visit the traditional cloth making called Sasaringan and the last one we visit the diamond market in Martapura.

Before sunrise we have headed to the floating market of Lok Baintan. After arriving there we rented a boat and headed to see the activity of the residents selling their merchandise on the boat. Its a very extraordinary experience and this is the first time I have seen directly how people selling their staff.
When tourists come, they will come to us to try sell their merchandise to us. They offer their merchandise in a unique way, by guiding. In addition, trading here uses the barter system, its exchange of goods with goods. They also use a cash payment, so it depends of the situation. They also offered us to try to get on the boat they were on, to walk around the market.
The goods they sell here generally come from their fields. Or from products that they produce from handicrafts such as hats made of bamboo and other woven. Other than that they are also sell some traditional food products. There are even those who sell coffee and traditional herbs.
It is really nice to be able to have the culture diversity in Indonesia. Thank you very much Borneo for this very valuable experience. I promise to come again next time. So I highly recommend all of you guys to visit this floating market in South Kalimantan. Contact us if you want to know about the trip there.
