Kawah ijen is part of the Ijen Natural Tourism Park and has an active crater with a turquoise acid lake. This lake is the largest acidic lake in the world and has a very low pH, around 0.5. Climbing

The climbing route to the kawah Ijen crater is quite challenging, but the views presented during the trip are very satisfying. The main gate to the nature reserve Ijen Crater Tourist Park is located in Paltuding

From Paltuding walk a distance of about 3 km. The initial 2 KM route is quite difficult because it is uphill. 

 continued for the last 1 KM which is relatively gentle

To descend to the crater you have to cross rocky terrain for 800 meters.

The climb usually starts at night so visitors can witness the phenomenal eternal blue fire.

The ideal time to see it is 2 to 4 in the morning. Because climbing the kawah ijen only opens at 2 in the morning.
