This travel story is about returning home to Krui to my hometown in Lampung with my wife and my parents. Krui is a small town on the west coast of Lampung that has a charming white sand beach. Besides the beautiful scenery, Krui is a place for world surfers and every year in Krui an international surfing competition is held. Krui is my mother’s hometown, she was born and raised here.
The four of us started our journey from Yogyakarta to Bandar Lampung by bus. Departing from the bus station in Yogyakarta around 3 pm on September 2, 2025. During the trip we all enjoyed every city we passed, because it had been a long time since we took an intercity bus. So this trip was very special for us. Around 7 am on September 3, 2025, we arrived at Tanjung Karang Bandar Lampung and were already waiting for my uncle who would take us to Krui.
So it was about a 16-hour bus trip from Yogyakarta to Bandar Lampung. From Bandar Lampung, we also have to travel about 250 km to get to Krui, the west coast of Lampung. We immediately continued our journey, but we stopped to rest at my cousin’s house in Gisting, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung. Nelda is the name of my cousin and her husband, Heru. Nelda is a veterinarian who has worked in the Tanggamus Regency government.
Krui, a beautiful hometown
Since we haven’t seen each other for a long time, they also came home to Krui with us. After a varied journey, we finally arrived at Krui’s house around 9 pm. The feeling of tiredness disappeared immediately when we saw the beautiful and peaceful atmosphere of our hometown. We planned to spend about 10 days in Krui and had already bought bus tickets to go Yogyakarta on September 13, 2025.
During our stay there, we met relatives who live in Krui, one of whom was my other cousin. Atung, Fery, Oca, Sandi, Yanda, Klewer, Joni, Erdi and others. We are a large family that maintains close ties. We spend our days gathering, eating together, and visiting beautiful beaches.
For those of you who have never visited Krui, please plan your vacation there soon. Krui offers a wide variety of seafood and has a unique culture. That’s a little story about my family and I’m traveling. Hopefully, these memories will motivate us to return to our hometown on the west coast of Lampung. We will returning home to Krui again.
