A Spanish Gijón couple’s travel story. That morning, May 16, 2025, a young couple from Gijón, Spain contacted me to book private transportation to tour the temples and the city of Yogyakarta. They knew me from Clara, a Spanish teacher who lives on the island of Bali. I was very happy to receive a message from Alvaro and Claudia, after communicating on WhatsApp, they agreed to the itinerary and price that I suggested.

At the beginning of the conversation, they ordered private transportation on June 29 to pick them up at the airport. Then on June 30 they wanted to tour Yogyakarta themselves and on July 1 they used my services again to visit Borobudur Temple. After finishing the tour at the temple they asked to be taken to the airport to continue their journey to Lombok. The time I had been waiting for arrived, I picked up Alvaro and Claudia at Yogyakarta airport, around 8 pm. They had taken a tour in Kalimantan to see orang utan.
When I brought the welcome sign Alavaro, someone waved at the airport exit and pointed to me that the name was him. A young couple from GIjon Spain who had a positive aura with a full smile approached me. After getting acquainted we immediately went to the hotel where they were staying. Along the way we also talked about the tour that we would do. And after I gave them information, finally they wanted to take a tour while they were here.
Temples and culture A Spanish Gijón couple’s experience in Yogyakarta

On the second day they wanted to visit Prambanan Temple, Taman Sari and Malioboro Street. On the third day they wanted to visit the palace, a bicycle tour in my village and a cooking class because it turned out they both liked to cook. They did not visit Borobudur Temple because they could not get a quota or ticket to climb up to Borobudur Temple. I understand because this month is indeed a holiday. Before going to the hotel, I offered this A Spanish Gijón couple’s to have dinner at my house. They agreed and were very happy to have dinner and get to know my family.
The second day arrived and we started our tour at 7.15 from the hotel to Sambi Sari Temple, before going to Prambanan Temple. After they enjoyed the Sambi Sari temple, coincidentally in the car park there were local residents selling coffee and various snacks. We also enjoyed coffee, tofu, tempeh, fried bananas and legendar. After that we continued our journey to Prambanan temple.

A Spanish Gijón couple’s enjoyed Prambanan temple for about two hours and we immediately headed to Malioboro street. I just dropped them off on the way because they wanted to walk on Malioboro. On the third day, they also checked out of the hotel. I picked up this couple from Gojin Spain to go to the Yogyakarta palace. Then after visiting the palace we went to my house to do a bicycle tour.
Cycling tour and cooking class

Before arriving at my house, I took them to visit a traditional market that sells various kinds of vegetables and food. They said this was the first time for them to see a traditional market in Yogyakarta. Since it was already noon, we immediately started the bicycle tour. During the bicycle tour we will visit a traditional tempeh and tofu making house. They were very happy to be able to enjoy the rural nature and see the activities of the local people. The bicycle tour was over and we continued with another activity, cooking.
We will cook lodeh vegetables (Claudia’s choice) typical of Java. Lots of jokes and laughter while we cook, because they have difficulty in grinding spices in the traditional way and do not use a machine. My wife Rita Marita helps us to prepare and teach how to cook the vegetables. Alvaro fries tempeh and tofu, while Claudia cooks lodeh. After all the dishes are finished and we eat together. It turns out that Claudia’s cooking is delicious, Alvaro can also fry tempeh and tofu deliciously.
Everything we cook tastes good and we finish the dishes while joking around. After finishing eating, I took them to the airport and ended the tour with them. This is the story of a couple’s travel trip from Gijon Spain. Hopefully it can be a recommendation for other tourists who will do the same tour. Thank you Mrs. Clara for recommending me to all your relations. I say thank you to the couple from Gijon, Spain, Alavaro and Claudia, may you all always be healthy and happy.
