August this year 2026, they will come back again. Maybe it’s the sixth or seventh time they have visited Yogyakarta again and met me. Returning to Yogyakarta to meet me then they will fly to Bali to spend the rest of the holiday there.

Time goest by so fast, its doesn’t feel like they have two grown up sons now. They consider me as part of their family, his children call me uncle. For me all of that feels so sweet to hear. The awakening of this relationship from their first arrival to Indonesia. We took a road trip from Yogyakarta to Tawangmangu, Bromo, Ijen crater and Surabaya. When I first met them at the airport, I invited them to have dinner at a roadside stall. By sitting on the mat with other people, I introduced them to Yogyakarta’s local food.

Then in addition to visiting the main tourist attractions such as Borobudur temple, Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta palace, and Taman sari. I also invited them to see directly life in the village. We can see directly the activities of local residents such as making tempe, tofu, blacksmithing and traditional market. Coincidentally that day coincided with the Eid atmosphere.
After finishing the tour in my village using a bicycle, I invite them to eat at my house. My wife cooks meatballs and other menus. We enjoy such and joke together while talking about many things.
Is that what makes them come back several times to Yogyakarta to meet me ? I also never asked him why the want returning to yogyakarta again and again. Whatever the reason, I’m still very happy with their return.
Hopefully this closeness will always be well until forever. I’m also open to all my guests. Travel, be a good friend or even become a family.
